College Basketball Preview, Picks, and Best Bets for December 3

Matt Dewoskin ATS College Basketball Picks Record (Est 11/3/2025)

All ATS Selections: 54-34-2
Perfect 3-0 Cards: 5-24

Navy at Delaware State

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Navy comes into this game with a 4-5 overall record and a 4-4 record ATS. The Midshipmen have gone 1-3 on the road, but are 3-1 ATS in away games.

Delaware State enters this matchup with a 2-7 overall record. The Hornets are 2-0 at home, but neither win is against a DI opponent. Delaware State is 0-5-1 ATS this year.

Navy comes into this game as a top-200 program in the country, and they’re only laying 11.5 points? Delaware State is a bottom-10 team in the country this year and has played like it. The line is a little fishy, but Navy is a much better roster by any measure.

Navy is also coming off back-to-back losses and needs a get-right spot. However, the Midshipmen have been competitive on the road against much better competition. They won outright at Presbyterian, and their only non-cover was a 30-point loss to UNC-Wilmington that got away from Navy.

Delaware State has lost by at least 11 points to every DI program it’s played this year. They have the second-worst offense in the country. Let’s lock up a more talented Navy team to win and cover on the road against a true bottom-feeder.

Navy -11.5

Hofstra at Columbia

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Hofstra enters this game with a 5-3 overall record and a 6-1 record ATS this year. The Pride have gone 2-3 on the road overall, but have a 4-1 road record ATS.

Columbia comes into this matchup with a 7-1 record, but is 4-0 at home this year. The Lions have been 6-0-1 ATS overall, but 2-0-1 ATS at home.

Columbia has dressed up their home record by playing either lower division programs or DI programs that are bottom-100 teams. Hofstra is by far the best team they’ve played at home so far this year.

Hofstra has played five road games against DI programs this year. Their second game of the year was against UCF on the road, and they only lost by four. They’ve won their last two road games at Penn and at La Salle. The Pride are clearly more battle-tested than Columbia at this point in the season.

On the metrics side, Hofstra’s defense should travel, and the Columbia offense has been solid but unspectacular. Look for Hofstra to choke out Columbia on the offensive end, and do just enough on offense to eke out a one-possession win. Let’s lock up Hofstra plus the 1.5 points, but The Pride should win this one outright.

Best Bet: Hofstra +1.5

Richmond at Belmont

Start Time: 7:30 PM EST

Belmont comes into this game with an 8-0 overall record with a 4-3 ATS record. The Bruins are also 0-3 at home ATS. They’re still looking for their first home cover of the season.

Richmond enters this matchup with a 6-1 overall record with a 3-3 ATS record. This is the Spiders’ first true road game of the year.

Belmont hasn’t been an ATS darling, but every home game they’ve played has had a double-digit spread. This is their first home game without a spread of 10 points or higher. The Bruins are also coming off a win on the road at College of Charleston and a 2-0 MTE in Fort Myers.

Richmond is also playing their first game off their MTE. The Spiders went 1-1 at the Terry’s Chocolates ESPN Events Invitational. They beat Charlotte, but dropped a game to Furman. This is also their first time traveling to a true hostile environment.

Richmond has also not been tested by anyone better than they are. Belmont is by far the best team the Spiders have met so far this year. Their best win was a four-point win at home against William & Mary. Going on the road to Belmont is a much tougher challenge, and the Spiders don’t appear to be up to it. Lock up Belmont to win this one outright and cover.

Best Bet: Belmont -6.5
