The NFC playoff race takes center stage this week on Monday Night Football, as the 6-5 Carolina Panthers, second in the NFC South, visit the 7-4 San Francisco 49ers, third in the NFC West. The Niners being in a playoff race is no surprise; the Panthers, however, are in rare territory, as they haven’t been in a playoff race since 2018.
The Niners have been boosted by the return of their oft-injured starting quarterback, Brock Purdy, who has only managed to appear in three games this season, but looked fantastic in his return in Week 11 (19-26, 200 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs). And while San Francisco and Carolina have similar win-loss records, the Niners outclass them on offense, especially, as well as defense.
My line for this game is San Francisco -13.5, so the 49ers to cover the spread is my best bet for Monday.
