MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 223
LFA Welterweight Fight: Jeff Creighton vs Diego Bianchini
Card Start Time: Friday (11/21), 7:30pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
It’s rare that two men who share the Ultimate Fighter house wind up running into each other outside of the UFC entirely. However, that’s exactly where we are with the LFA 223 co-main event.
I like the Brazilian in this one. While Bianchini struggled a bit on the show and put up an ugly performance – I’m going to chalk that up to not having his coaches gameplanning in his corner. He fights out of the Fighting Nerds, which is one of the better teams in terms of drawing up plans. With them, he’s turned in a near flawless record as he’s been tough with both jiu jitsu and his creative striking.
On the other side of things Creighton has put together an impressive career himself, but has struggled with those who can hang with his grappling. Any fight he has loss, or even just struggled in, has been due to being forced to his feet more than he’d wish. I think Bianchini has the ability to do that and will be the more skilled striker. Even if Creighton does manage to get him down, I think we’ll see Bianchini work his way back up.
