College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 13

The college football season is quickly moving towards the fun time, with only a few weeks left before bowl season is upon us. Let’s hit some more winners and try to push my ROI for the season even higher than the 9% it’s currently sitting at. For my college football predictions and best bets for Week 13, we’re off to the home of the country’s top team, Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, as well as to SECU Stadium in College Park, Maryland, home of definitely not the top team in the country. Let’s hit the gridiron!

College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 13

Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs #1 Ohio State Buckeyes

Start Time: 12:00 PM EST

After opening the season as the third-ranked team in the nation, it’s been nothing but the top spot for THE Ohio State Buckeyes the rest of the way, as they haven’t slipped up yet, going 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the Big Ten. They have the top defense in the country, the #11-rated offense, and the advanced stats have them rated as the top overall team. And no team has come within a touchdown of them since Texas in Week 1.

Yet, as has been the case with me this season, I’m fading the favorite. No, I don’t think the mediocre Rutgers Scarlet Knights are going to beat the Buckeyes in their own house. However, I’ve dived into the numbers, looked at the point differentials and strength of schedules and home field advantage, among other things, and I think that the Scarlet Knights can cover this ridiculously-wide spread.

My line for this game is Ohio State -24.5, so I’ll take a flier on Rutgers plus the points.

Best Bet: Rutgers +31.5 (-100)

#18 Michigan Wolverines vs Maryland Terrapins

Start Time: 4:00 PM EST

I faded the Michigan Wolverines on the road on the spread last weekend to great results, and I’m going for the repeat this weekend as the #18-ranked Wolverines hit College Park to face the Maryland Terrapins. We’re going all-Big Ten with my picks this week.

Michigan is rolling with four straight wins, but the last three have been close affairs (nine points, five points, two points). As with Rutgers, the Terrapins are a mediocre team, so I wouldn’t expect them to beat Michigan, even if they are playing at home. However, my number crunching tells me that Maryland can at least keep it relatively close.

I’ve come up with the spread of Michigan -6.5, so Maryland plus the points at home is the play.

Best Bet: Maryland +14 (-115)
