Merrimack at Boston University

Start Time: 1:00 PM EST

Merrimack enters this game having dropped each of its first three to start the 2025-26 college basketball season. The Warriors dropped their first home game to South Dakota State, and then lost a pair of road games to Auburn and Tarleton State. This is Merrimack’s third straight road game.

Boston comes into this one at 2-1. The Terriers won at Northeastern to start the year, and clipped the Brown Bears a few nights ago. Their only loss came against Northwestern in Evanston, IL.

Boston was one of the few non-service academies that didn’t do much in the transfer portal. The Terriers returned three starters and replaced the pieces they lost internally. Their main rotation is mainly a veteran group that has been in the program for multiple seasons. Freshman forward Sam Hughes has been a revelation for Boston. He’s the Terriers’ leading scorer and has hit double-digits in two out of three games played.

Merrimack had to replace all five starters and brought in a lot of portal pieces and true freshmen. The Warriors have struggled offensively and lacked cohesion on defense. The team may round into form by the time conference play comes around, but they’ve looked rough at times early on.

Boston has players who are familiar with each other and the system. The Terriers also get Merrimack on their third straight road game. Given the way the teams have looked and the potential for road-weary legs for Merrimack, Boston U laying 4.5 points is the play here. Lock up these Terriers to get the cover.

Best Bet: Boston -4.5

East Tennessee State at North Alabama

Start Time: 3:00 PM EST

Tony Pujol might be one of the most underrated coaches in the country. He’s had North Alabama competitive in the ASUN conference in six out of seven seasons, and he’s coming off a 24-win season. North Alabama has started the season 2-1 with wins at home over Northwestern State and Lane College. The only match-up North Alabama lost was an opening night blowout at Mississippi State.

East Tennessee State also comes into this game at 2-1. The Buccaneers beat Converse and Northern Kentucky at home, but dropped a road game at Presbyterian.

North Alabama’s Flowers Hall is one of the toughest gyms to play at in the ASUN conference. The Lions were 16-1 outright at home last year, and they come into this one catching 1.5 points.

East Tennessee State is coming off a good win against Northern Kentucky, but they looked really mediocre on the road at Presbyterian. North Alabama has a typical Tony Pujol roster. He has a group of smart guards who can shoot, and a couple of chippy, athletic bigs. This one might get sweaty, but fading the Lions in Florence, AL has been a losing bet. Look for the Lions to win a rock fight outright.

Best Bet: North Alabama +1.5

Montana State at Boise State

Start Time: 4:00 PM EST

Montana comes into this one on the second leg of a two-game road trip. The Bobcats are 1-3 on the year. They lost by nine to Stanford in the Maples Pavilion and lost by six to Colorado in Boulder, CO. They also lost by two to Denver at home.

Boise State has a record of 2-1. They’ve played all three games at home with two wins against UT-Rio Grande Valley and Utah Valley, and a bad loss to Hawaii-Pacific on opening night. The Broncos return a fair bit, but they’ve struggled at times early. They’ve rolled against a few low-majors, but this is a mid-day game in a sleepy spot against a chippy team. Boise State should win here, but get outside the number? Probably not.

Montana State comes into this one 2-1 ATS this year. The Bobcats have covered big numbers against an ACC team and a Big 12 team. They head into Boise catching a ton of points, and we’ll roll with Montana State catching a big number. Montana State plays at a slower pace that grinds on their opponents. They also have a veteran roster that follows the system. This one may not be pretty, but Montana State will stay within the number.

Best Bet: Montana State +16.5
