While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 222
LFA Lightweight Fight: Joe Giannetti vs Jose Ferreira
Card Start Time: Friday (11/13), 7:30pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
The co-main event on Friday pits an up and comer against a Ultimate Fighter finalist and UFC veteran. While we usually see the books favor the UFC veteran – particularly once they’ve exited to the regional scene – here we have Joe Giannetti as the underdog. I, personally, think that’s a mistake.
While Giannetti has been really good at losing fights that he has no business losing, the skill is unquestioned. His grappling game is what flew him through the TUF house and he has since picked up some serious hands (and feet, for that matter). He hit a crazy switch kick KO on Karate Combat, and has outstruck some of his opponents in Cage Titans. Where he lacks is his ability to fight to his potential every time out.
With that being said, his skills are miles above Ferreira. He’s faster than him. He should be able to drag him into a grappling match if need be. And perhaps most importantly, he’s always shown up when a big LFA fight was on the docket.
