Our reward for suffering through two UFC Apex Fight Nights in the past two weeks comes this Saturday, as the UFC makes its annual pilgrimage to The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City, for UFC 322. MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC 322
UFC 322: Della Maddalena vs Machachev
Start Time: 6:00 PM EST – (ESPN+/PPV)
Fittingly for the annual MSG card, UFC 322 is stacked from top to bottom. That includes the early prelim featherweight bout between Pat Sabatini and Jose ‘Chepe’ Mariscal. A fight in which the underdog, Mariscal, is going to win and earn us plus money.
Sabatini is strictly a grappler (a damn good one), so Mariscal will have a distinct striking advantage, not only in terms of volume and technique but power. But the kicker here is that Chepe is also a very strong wrestler and grappler in his own right. I see him riding his all-around game to an underdog victory on Saturday.
