Siena at Brown

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Brown opens their 2025-26 season tonight, while Siena already racked up their first win of the season. Siena beat Bryant by 16 in Albany, NY.

Brown has to replace all but two starters from last year’s squad, and they didn’t add anyone through the transfer portal. There is familiarity here, but it often takes time for teams to replace starters, even internally.

Siena had four players in double-digits on Monday as they ran away from Bryant. DII transfer Tasman Goodrick went off for 22 points and 11 boards, while point guard Justice Shoats dished out nine assists and added 17 points.

Siena has the best roster in the MAAC, and they should outclass Brown in their own building. Siena won outright at home in a 1-point overtime win against Brown last year. This is a better version of Siena and an arguably worse version of Brown. Look for the Saints to win outright and cover the two points.

Best Bet: Siena -2

Cornell at Kent State

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Cornell Big Red head to the MACC to play one of the better teams in the MAC. Kent State opened its season on Monday with an overtime loss to Troy as a part of the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon. The Golden Flashes return home and are looking for their first win of the regular season.

This game is Cornell’s first of the season, while Kent State already had a game in which they hung with a tough Sun Belt team.

Cornell returns a pair of starters, but they needed to replace their point guard and one of their key wings from last year’s squad. The Big Red only had two transfer portal additions this offseason. They added 6’7″ senior big man Kaspar Sepp from Valparaiso and junior JUCO transfer Damaryon Fishburn. Cornell has a couple of seniors on the bench, but most of the Cornell bench consists of sophomores who stayed with the program and saw limited action. The rotation here is somewhat of a mystery.

Kent State has one of the better rosters in the MAC, and looked solid in their first game on Monday. Senior guard Morgan Safford was hurt for most of last season, but started against Troy and dropped 21 against the Trojans. Senior big man Delrecco Gillespie posted a double-double against Troy and looks primed for a great campaign.

Kent State is more athletic and has a better rotation than Cornell. Given that the Golden Flashes have already played, had a chance to work on their rotation, and play at home are key factors in their favor here. The line is a little short at 4.5 points, and Kent State looks like the better side playing in their building. Lock up the Golden Flashes to cover against Cornell.

Best Bet: Kent State -4.5

UMKC at Southern Illinois

Start Time: 8:00 PM EST

The Kansas City Roos head to Carbondale for a matchup with Southern Illinois. The Salukis rolled against DII McKendree on Monday, while Kansas City struggled to get past Evangel. Evangel is an NAIA team. This is setting up for a 20-point beatdown from Southern Illinois.

UMKC looks like a bottom-50 team in DI basketball this year, and Southern Illinois projects as a middle-of-the-pack team in the Missouri Valley Conference. A middle-of-the-pack MVC team should roll against a bottom-50 team. Kansas City has a transfer portal grab bag roster and lacks a clear identity. Southern Illinois has an identity, has a roster capable of winning games in the MVC, and should run it up a little on UMKC. Lock up the Salukis to cover the 13 points.

Best Bet: Southern Illinois -13
