Texas Southern at Texas A&M
Start Time: 8:00 PM EST
Texas Southern travels to College Station, TX, for a matchup with Texas A&M. We’ve got a SWAC team playing an SEC team. This rarely goes well for the SWAC, and it’s one of our favorite college basketball picks for tonight’s slate.
Texas A&M has a roster with only three players who didn’t come to College Station through the portal this past offseason. The Aggies have a mix of high-majors and mid-majors that just blew out Northwestern State by 30. Now? They’re laying the same number against Texas Southern. The same Texas Southern team that just lost to Gonzaga by 55 on Monday.
The SEC was put on notice when Auburn got pushed by Reggie Theus’ super team at Bethune-Cookman. Look for the Aggies to come out firing in their final tune-up before they head to Stillwater, OK, on Sunday for a game with Oklahoma State. Lock up the Aggies to win by 35+
Best Bet: Texas A&M -29.5
Chicago State at St. Louis
Start Time: 8:00 PM EST
Chicago State started its world tour with a 30-point loss at DePaul. The Cougars head down I-55 to St. Louis for a matchup with the Billikens tonight.
St. Louis returns center Robbie Avila and big man Kalu Anya, but had to rebuild their entire backcourt through the portal this past offseason. Quentin Jones came in from Northern Illinois, and Trey Green transferred in from Xavier. Both profile as combo guards who can shoot and distribute. St. John’s transfer Brady Dunlap is at St. Louis to hit from long range.
Look for St. Louis to get a live action scrimmage as they blow out Chicago State on their opening night. The Blue Demons shot only 32.0% from deep and wrecked the Cougars. St. Louis profiles as a better shooting team and should get plenty of open looks as they blast Chicago State by 30+.
Best Bet: St. Louis -28.5
Northwestern State at North Texas
Start Time: 8:00 PM EST
Northwestern State started its season with an aforementioned blowout loss to Texas A&M. The Demons have to travel to The Super Pit in Denton, TX, for a matchup with North Texas.
North Texas brought in a new coach for the 2025-26 season. Daniyal Robinson comes to the Mean Green from Cleveland State. He brought a lot of his Cleveland State team with him. Four former Vikings are now at North Texas, so they do have a bit of continuity. The Mean Green should also find their identity a bit quicker than most portal teams because of the familiarity between the players and the coach.
Daniyal Robinson will want to start his career at North Texas with a beatdown. Look for the Mean Green to put the Demons to the sword and roll by 20-plus in Robinson’s first regular-season home game in Denton. North Texas is a lock to cover.
Best Bet: North Texas -14.5
