UFC Vegas 110 may have just been the weirdest fight card in history. There were fights that ended twice, weird betting patterns and odd gameplan choices. Hopefully this Saturday’s trip to the Apex is a touch more normal. Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 111
UFC Bantamweight Fight: Jacqueline Cavalcanti vs Mayra Bueno Silva
Start Time: Saturday (11/8) 4:00pm EST (ESPN+)
One of the best spots on the prelims comes by fading a former title challenger. Once upon a time, Mayra Bueno Silva worked her way up to a title shot. However, it quickly because clear that she was going to struggle with fighters she couldn’t get into the clinch to bully. This weekend, we have another of those fighters at a very playable price.
Cavalcanti has looked solid since coming to the UFC. She has four straight wins for the organization and even the woman she beat in her last regional fight, Melissa Croden, has not made the UFC – and picked up a victory too. Cavalcanti has done this by working her distance and keeping herself standing. She fights long for a bantamweight and has been able to land at a big clip. She has 5.73 strikes landed per minute and has stayed elusive defensively too.
I can’t imagine Bueno Silva standing with her and having any success. I also don’t see her getting the grappling going. As a result, there is a great price right here on the youngster.
