NFL Week 9 Defensive Player Props – Best Bets
Our Favorite Sack Props
Khalil Mack – LAC (+116)
No qurterback in the NFL has been sacked as many times as Cam Ward. That’s the bane of being a number one pick under center from game one. Now he faces a team in the Chargers that rank 8th in sacks this season. That number might be even higher had we seen more of Khalil Mack. In just four games this year, he already has three sacks. That includes sacks in both of his games since returning from injury. I expect him to tack another on Sunday.
Jadeveon Clowney – DAL (+315)
While Kyler Murray hasn’t been sacked much on the year, his per game rate is amongst the highest in the league. He’s been sacked more than three times a game over his five games this year. The Cowboys haven’t been great at getting to the quarterback, but they have been dialling up the pressure more lately. Clowney grabbed one of the four Dallas had against Washington, and I like his chances to find Murray here too.
Our Favorite Tackle Props
Malik Mustapha – SF – Over 5.5 Tackles and Assists (-125)
If I’m looking for a play on some tackles, I’m looking to that 49ers secondary. Jaxson Dart is going to be entering his first game without his backfield buddy, Cam Skattebo, and as a result is going to need to let it fly. As a result, I’ll play the safety here to pick up six tackles. He has 18 over the last two games and this shoul be another active one.
Cameron Heyward – PIT – Over 3.5 Tackles and Assists (+110)
This number might seem high for Heward, who has only beat the projection in one of his last four games, but there is still a lot to like here. Firstly, that one week over the last four was last week. He rattled off seven total against Green Bay on Sunday night. Plus, I’m liking guys up front against the Colts being as we know they’ll be leaning on Jonthan Taylor yet again.
Our Favorite Interception Props
Andrew Wingard – JAX (+475)
Geno Smith is under center yet again and that’s a reason to be looking for turnover props for the Jaguars. He second in the league in interceptions and is only behind Tua Tagovailoa, who has played two more games. The Jaguars are good at fining picks as well – they have ten on the season. While Wingard only has one interception on the year, he is getting his hand to plenty of balls lately. Let’s hope he gets both of his hands to one of these.
Terrion Arnold – DET (+1100)
This is a bit of a bomb, but I love Arnold coming back from injury here. He hasn’t played in a couple weeks, but should be back at 100% on Sunday. He was busy in the secondary before going out and with Kerby Joseph out, he will need to step up for the Lions. JJ McCarthy is back in a starting role for the Vikings Sunday, which is music to defensive back ears. He has thrown a pick once every 13.7 attempts.
