In last week’s survivor picks article, we hit both our locks again. Hopefully, that helped you advance in your NFL survivor pools. It’s nine weeks in now, and I hope you’re still surviving! We’ve had a winner every week and are looking to keep the action going as we advance in our leagues. Let’s take a look at the Week 9 NFL Survivor picks!
As a reminder, I’m giving out two locks each week, in case you’ve already used the first one. I’m also giving out a contrarian dog play that I think will hit to try and give you an advantage over your league mates!

The Lock: Green Bay Packers
The Packers hushed any doubters last week by taking it to their former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, and the Steelers. They put up 35 points against what was considered earlier this season as a really good Steelers’ defense. Jordan Love has scored 27 points in four games and 35 in this one. Only one game did he score less than 27, in a loss to the Browns.
Micah Parsons has their defense are generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks, which has really helped elevate the defense as a whole. On top of that, if Love continues to throw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns, this team will be tough to beat any given week.
Now they face the Carolina Panthers. Despite showing some life this season, sitting at 4-4, the Panthers are still an inferior team to the Packers. There’s a possibility that this is a trap spot. The Packers, coming off a big Sunday Night Football win, may start sluggish. However, I think that’s more likely to affect them covering the spread, not them winning the game. I’m rolling confidently with the Packers in my NFL Survivor Picks for Week 9
Another Confident Pick: LA Rams
The Tyler Shough era begins in New Orleans. Could it possibly give the New Orleans Saints a nice one-game bump, given the Rams have no tape on Shough running the offense? Possibly. However, my gut tells me the opposite. My gut says, why would you wait to go against this advantageous defense to start your rookie?
It’s a curious spot to throw him in, as it could immediately give a shock to his confidence as a welcome to the NFL. Sean McVay will be ready for the rookie quarterback and have his defense ready to perform. On top of facing a rookie making his NFL debut, the Rams are coming off a bye.
They are battling for the top spot in the NFC East and currently sit at 5-2. The Rams were in London prior to the bye and gave a 35-7 beat-down to the Jaguars. The Jaguars’ offense has been much better than the Saints. I don’t see any way the Siants win this game. If you haven’t taken them yet, the Rams are a solid choice to consider for your NFL survivor picks for Week 9.
An Underdog Pick: Denver Broncos
Now it’s time for a contrarian pick for your NFL Survivor picks for Week 9. This is a pick that, because they’re an underdog, not a lot of people in your league may be circling. It’s always a little dangerous picking a road dog. Home dogs are usually a better option. In fact, if you want a home dog, take the Cincinnati Bengals to take out my Chicago Bears.
However, that’s not the pick I’m giving out. I understand that the Houston Texans have looked better the past couple of weeks. I understand they’re on a bit of a mini-win streak. However, I also understand they’re about to take on Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.
You better believe I’m a Bo-liever! This Broncos team has been playing very good football, and Bo Nix is a baller. Last week, they handled the high-powered Dallas Cowboys offense just fine, winning 44-24. The week prior to that, I’m sure everybody is familiar with. That’s the game that they scored 33 points in the 4th quarter to come back from a 19-point deficit with just five minutes remaining to win 33-32 over the Giants.
This Texans team may be playing better, but they’re not the Broncos. The Broncos have been on fire, and I expect that to continue even on the road.
