MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 20
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays
First Pitch – 8:00 pm EST
Rogers Centre – Toronto, ON
Broadcast – Fox
If we’re going to get our first NRFI of the series, we have to put our trust in rookie Trey Yesavage against this lineup filled with dudes who rake. While he’s been up and down a bit this postseason, his last outing looked stellar. His four-seam was getting well-above average ride and causing a lot of swing and miss up in the zone. Additionally, his splitter, which he uses on lefties, and his slider, which he uses to righties – were both getting tons of chase. While the Dodgers are a much different team at the plate, the small sample size out there should help Yesavage in the early parts of the game.
In the home half, you’d have to be crazy to expect early scoring off of Blake Snell. He’s now thrown 14.0 straight scoreless innings – with those outings coming against the Phillies and the Brewers. He struck out 19 batters in that amount of time. To help him out a bit, the Blue Jays have not been sharp early with their bats. They have just one first inning run over their last five games. If they break out of that trend, I doubt it’ll be against Snell.
