Manhattan to win the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference

Manhattan starts the 2025-26 season in year three of the John Gallagher era. The Jaspers looked rough in the first two seasons under Gallagher, but look poised to make a jump this year. Manhattan finished tied for fourth place in the conference last season. They also chose to play in the CBI and got bounced in the first round.

The Jaspers have two players who could wind up on the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference list at the end of the year.

Sophomore forward Will Sydnor averaged 13.9 points and 4.1 boards in 30 games last year. He’s expected to leap in his second year with Manhattan.

Junior guard Devin Dinkins also returns. Dinkins was second on the team in scoring and shot 43.8% from deep in 31 games last year.

The Jaspers also return their starting point guard from last season, Jaden Winston. Winston led Manhattan in assists last year.

Rounding out the starting lineup for the 2025-26 season should be D2 transfer guard Erik Oliver-Bush. Oliver-Bush shot 35.2% from three-point range and won Rookie of the Year in the Northeast 10 Conference. Sophomore forward Fraser Roxbaugh should pair with Sydnor in the frontcourt. Roxbaugh played 19 games as a freshman last year and showed he could pull down rebounds and shoot from deep.

Manhattan also has a few bench pieces that should provide depth. JUCO transfer forward Anthony Isaac and Norfolk State transfer guard Terrance Jones should be the top options off the bench. The Jaspers also have a couple of intriguing freshmen and vets returning from injury to round out their rotation.

Quinnipiac had to replace its back court, and they may struggle to hit from three-point range. Also, Merrimack, Marist, and Iona may take a step backward this year.

The Jaspers return a starting lineup that has skill, size, and can shoot. The Jaspers also have depth to make it through conference play and a clear rotation. They had success as a young group last year and return as a more mature group. Expect Manhattan to take a jump to the top of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference this year.
