The UFC is back with one of the last pay-per-view cards of the ESPN era. With just two months before they make the switch to Paramount+, they are loading up their big signature events. This one sees the heavyweight title on the line as well as the women’s strawweight belt. Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC 321
UFC Lightweight Fight: Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady vs Matheus Camilo
Start Time: Saturday (10/25) 10:00am EST (ESPN+)
In the wee hours of the morning on Saturday, the books are giving UFC bettors an absolute gift. Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady steps into the cage with Matheus Camilo and the odds are all off on this one.
Both men are 0-1 in the UFC, but arrived there in very different ways. Al-Selwady reached the UFC by upsetting George Hardwick on the Contender Series in a one-sided affair. He then was one round away from beating Loik Radzhabov, when he got caught with a shot. Overall, he’s shown solid grappling skills and the abillity to go hard for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, Camilo made it to the UFC by beating Dorobshokh Nabotov – a fighter who had begged Dana White for a fight at a press conference. They threw down at Zombie Fight Night 2 and it was clear that Nabotov wasn’t ready for the bright lights. Then in Camilo’s debut, he showed some real holes in his grappling defense. Gabe Green tooled on him on the ground and submitted him in the second.
I personally feel that Al-Selwady has more grappling chops than Green does. As a result, he should run through Camilo on the mat.
