Vermont to win the America East Conference
Bryant dominated last year, but the Bulldogs don’t return any starters from last year’s squad. The Bulldogs will have a solid team, but Vermont has reloaded and should return to the top this year.
Vermont brings back starters TJ Hurley and TJ Long to the lineup this year. The Catamounts duo is possibly the two best players in the conference. Vermont has the best backcourt in the conference.
They also brought in a lot more size through the transfer portal. Ben Michaels comes in from Buffalo. Gus Yalden transferred in from Seton Hall. David Simon moves cross-country from San Diego to Vermont. All three are 6’8″ or bigger and bring experience to the Catamounts front court. The Catamounts have a solid group of big men on their roster. On paper, they rank among the best in the conference.
Vermont also brought in a proven sharp shooter in graduate transfer Ben Johnson. Johnson comes to Vermont from Bellarmine. Vermont appears to have the necessary pieces in place to dominate and win in the 2025-26 season.
The Catamounts have a much deeper roster than last year. They were sidetracked by injuries in 2024-25. Vermont is in a much better place to absorb players missing and continue to compete.
Last year appears to have been more of a wake-up call for John Becker. Vermont has retooled its roster around its stars and seems to be set to return to the top in 2025-26. Lock up the Catamounts to win the America East Conference this year. It’s one of the easiest plays on the board, but it may also come with really juiced odds. This is an ideal parlay piece, but won’t have a solid return as a single play.
