While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we keep it domestic for CFFC 147 from East Lake-Orient Park, Florida for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: CFFC 147
CFFC 147 Featherweight Fight: Tommy Laipply vs Christian Carr
Card Start Time: Friday (10/10), 7:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
We’ll dig into this CFFC card down in Florida to find some value near the beginning. Neither of these two fighters come in with a good looking record. Laipply is just 2-2 in his career and Carr is 3-2. However, it doesn’t take much tape or examining of their records to see that there is a pretty wide range between the two.
Laipply lost the first two fights of his pro career. While the guys he fought we’re also inexperienced at the time, they have gone on to have a combined record of 12-2. Outside of those two big punchers to kick things off, any time he’s fought someone who he could grapple, he’s easily handled business. His ground game seems sharp and dominates when he gets a chance to show it off. That’s true even back into his amateur games.
The same can’t be said for Carr. His last loss came in a 15 minute war with a fighter who had just one win in seven fights. Carr, too, likes to mix things up on the ground. However, I just don’t he’s going to like what he sees when he gets there. Give me the favorite here to get it done.
