We split our first inning action on Wednesday, but the loss wasn’t entirely our fault. The Brewers made a last second change in pitchers and Quinn Priester got lit up like a Christmas tree. Now we’ll look to sweep our NRFI bets for October 9.
With just two games set up for Thursday, we don’t have many choices for NRFI and YRFI props for October 9. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 9
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
First Pitch – 6:08 pm EST
Dodger Stadium – Los Angeles, CA
Broadcast – TBS
In our first of two games tonight, we get the super teams throwing down with a spot in the NLCS. While each team tore it up with their offense during the regular season, they haven’t done much during this series. They have combined to score just 4.17 runs per team per game, which is not exactly lighting the world on fire. In addition, we have seen each of the first three games with a clean first inning. With them starting so slow, there is already a lot to like about the NRFI.
To add to all of the slow bats, we also have a solid pitching matchup here. Tyler Glasnow gets the ball for Los Angeles to start. He already appeared once in this series, as a reliever, and threw 1.2 scoreless innings. That’s hardly a fluke seeing as he put up a 2.49 ERA in the month of September anyways.
He’ll be up against Cristopher Sanchez, who the Phillies are rushing out there for their must win game. While a shorter time to prep is not ideal, he held the Dodgers scoreless for five innings in game one before eventually getting tagged for some runs. They didn’t score anything off of him the first two times through the order, which is a good sign here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for October 9: No (-125)
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs
First Pitch – 9:08 pm EST
Wrigley Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – TBS
We’re going for another NRFI in the nightcap on Thursday. Some might be weary of the line being that Matthew Boyd got lit up for six runs in the first inning of his last start. However, the bulk of those runs were unearned and he did not get very much help from his fielding. Additionally, the Brewers really cooled off with the bats on Wednesday, which gives me confidence that Boyd can settle in.
On the other side of things, we get Freddy Peralta toeing the rubber. It’s now been four straight starts that he has kept opponents to two runs or less. In that time, he’s racked up 18.2 innings and 28 strikeouts. He looked good last time out against the Cubs, striking out nine in the process. That big swing and miss stuff should play up again here and help us cash this one.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for October 9: No (-155)
