Weekend Dads & Duds: NFL Week 4 Recap + Early Week 5 Lines | Stephie Smalls Show

What a wild ride Week 4 was, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guest than Nate Collins from the Green Light Podcast to break it all down with me. If you don’t know Nate, he’s a former NFL player with a sharp eye for defense and a soft spot for defensive linemen making the kind of highlight plays that usually belong to wideouts. He came in hot—literally just off a massive $1,000 parlay win—and brought the energy we needed to sift through a chaotic weekend of football.

Weekend Dads & Duds

This week’s Dads (the best of Week 4) included the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense, which is finally forcing turnovers at a league-leading rate, and Dak Prescott, who has quietly played himself into MVP-level form despite the Cowboys’ issues. We also gave flowers to the defensive linemen who turned tipped balls into interceptions—it doesn’t get more fun than a 340-pound nose tackle running the ball back like a wide receiver.

On the Duds side, Joe Flacco’s struggles in Cleveland are just painful at this point, and the Ravens’ injury list is long enough to fill a whole depth chart. And then there’s the MetLife turf—yet another injury and yet another reason for fans and players to call for real grass.

Looking Ahead to Week 5

Nate and I dove into early lines, including Ravens vs Texans, Rams vs 49ers, and Colts vs Raiders. Houston’s defense has quietly become a problem for teams, the Rams look like they’ve found something special in Puka Nacua, and the Raiders’ offensive line still can’t keep anyone upright. My advice? Keep an eye on these games before the lines move too much.

Shanks & Golf Claps

Producer Ryan jumped in to close the show with our segment Shanks & Golf Claps, where we highlight the funniest off-field moments from the week. We couldn’t stop laughing about an announcer saying a player was “coming all over the field” with a straight face, Jerry Jones comparing ties to “kissing your sister,” and a kicker who may or may not have been on some questionable substances before a game-winning field goal.

Final Thoughts

Week 4 reminded us that NFL seasons turn quickly—stars go down, underdogs rise, and sometimes defenses win games all on their own. Week 5 lines are already looking juicy, and if our Circa Million picks keep trending like they did this week (4–1, thank you very much), we might really be onto something.

Stick around for tomorrow’s show when Nicky the Good joins me for fantasy football talk, and don’t forget to grab some merch while the sale lasts.
