NASCAR Picks: Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway Odds and Best Bets

NASCAR heads to the track that produced the closest finish in series history in 2024, Kansas Speedway. Located in Kansas City, Kansas, the 1.5-mile oval has been known to produce great racing on its worn-out surface that has multiple grooves to allow the drivers to search around for their fastest way around the track. Kyle Larson dominated the spring race at the track, winning the pole, sweeping the stages, and winning the race. Here are this week’s NASCAR picks, odds, and best bets for the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.

It’s the second race in the Round of 12 for the Cup Series playoffs. Ryan Blaney has already punched his ticket into the Round of 8 after last weekend’s win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. A win for any of the 11 remaining drivers would allow them to join Blaney in the Round of 8 and go into next week’s Charlotte Roval race without any worries.

With Bell locked into the Round of 8, the rest of the drivers shape up like this. William Byron enters Kansas +47 points above the cut line. Kyle Larson is +41, Christopher Bell +29, Denny Hamlin +27, Joey Logano +24, Chase Elliott +14, and Chase Briscoe +12. Checking in below the cut line is Ross Chastain -12, Austin Cindric -19, Tyler Reddick -23, and Bubba Wallace -27.

NASCAR Picks: Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway Odds and Best Bets

Alex Bowman Top 10 (+100)

Alex Bowman loves Kansas Speedway. He’s loved it in six NextGen starts, all of which he’s finished inside the top 10. He’s also loved it ever since he’s been at Hendrick Motorsports. During his time with HMS, Bowman has never finished outside of the top 20 in his 15 starts. And in 13 of those 15, he’s finished 11th place or better. Spring race, fall race, in the playoffs, out of the playoffs. Running well before Kansas or struggling at Kansas. None of it matters when Alex Bowman enters the land of Oz. At even money for a bet that hits this much, Bowman is a great bet at Kansas.

Josh Berry Top 10 (+140)

I was at the spring Kansas race in person, and let me tell you. Kyle Larson might have dominated everything on the stat sheet, but there wasn’t a faster car on that race track than Josh Berry. Berry started 38th, and quickly found his way to the front on a day that was uncharacteristically hard to pass for Kansas. He then had a speeding penalty on pit road that sent him back to the back, only to fight all the way back to the front to finish in sixth place.

That’s not the only reason to bet Berry this week, though. Las Vegas, the sister track to Kansas Speedway, which is laid out the same and races similarly. Was home to Berry’s first career win back in March. Then at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway, Berry had led 41 laps when he spun from the lead with a fast car. He also finished 12th at Michigan, a track also similar to Kansas, just outside that top 10. I also like grabbing some Berry at 35/1 to win this race.

Bubba Wallace to Win (+2500)

I think the favorites are splitting hairs this week, so I’m going for a longer shot to win this race pre-practice and qualifying. Bubba Wallace has been very good at Kansas Speedway, as has his team, 23XI Racing. Just not lately. Bubba won here in the fall of 2022 and followed it up with a fourth-place finish in the spring of 2023. He hasn’t finished better than 17th in the four races since, but it’s not always been for lack of speed.

Wallace and the 23 team have five top 10 finishes in the last nine races this season. Now, after a bad race at New Hampshire, sit at the bottom of the cut line. I think they dig back into the notes of old and try to rekindle some of that 2022 magic and shoot for the moon. Wallace also just won at the Brickyard 400. While Indianapolis Motor Speedway races differently from Kansas, it’s still a bigger intermediate and shows the team can put together a good race. At 25/1, he’s worth the bet!
