The 3-0 Los Angeles Chargers, led by Justin Herbert, head to the Meadowlands this weekend. Awaiting them is the 0-3 New York Giants. They’ll be led for the first time by rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. Let’s jump in and take a look at this Chargers-Giants preview and predictions.
The Chargers are on a roll in Jim Harbaugh’s second season as the head coach. They started things off with a win over the AFC Champion Chiefs in Brazil. Then they went to Las Vegas and took care of the Raiders. They made it a perfect AFC West sweep when the Broncos came to town and the Chargers won on a last-second field goal last week.
It’s a new era in New York for the Giants. After starting the season 0-3, they are turning the keys of the kingdom over to the 23-year-old Jaxson Dart. Dart was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 25th overall selection out of Ole Miss. Running Back Tyrone Tracy Jr went down with an injury and will miss 2-4 weeks. Putting rookie Cam Skattebo in as the Giants’ starter alongside Dart in the backfield.

Los Angeles Chargers at New York Giants Preview and Predictions
Jaxson Dart Over 35.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
Since it’s Dart’s first start, if the Giants are smart, they’ll keep the playbook small and simple for Dart and include some designed runs and plays that allow him to tuck and run if nobody is open. Dart ran the ball just six times in the preseason, but for a very effective 52 rushing yards. He was proficient in running throughout his college career at Ole Miss as well. In his final five college games, he had at least 43 rushing yards in each. Bo Nix ran for 33 yards against them last week, and Patrick Mahomes was the leading rusher in Week 1 with 57 yards on the ground against the Chargers.
New York Giants +6.5 (-110)
This is a perfect spot for the Giants. They’ve been close in a couple of games, but haven’t been able to get it done. Now the Chargers come in without a loss, and the Giants turn to their rookie quarterback. This is a great spot for a good team to rally around the young quarterback, and for him to ball out without a ton of game film out there for the Chargers to prepare for him. Don’t be shocked if the Giants pull this one out under a strong performance from Dart. Either way, I think it’s a field goal game at the end. Give me the G-Men.
