While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we head oversears for PFL Europe 3 from Nantes, France for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: PFL Europe 3
PFL Europe Lightweight Fight: Connor Hughes vs Gino van Steenis
Card Start Time: Friday (9/26), 12:00pm EST (PFL App)
This PFL Europe card has fallen apart in a big way. They had a main event at the top between Abdoul Abdouraguimov and Kevin Jousset that was cancelled due to a contract dispute. Then the replacement main event between Donovan Desmae and Amin Ayoub got bit by the injury bug. One tournament fight saw both ends fall off. We aren’t left with much here, but we did find a very high value play.
Connor Hughes remains in his originally scheduled lightweight tournament bout against Gino van Steenis. Hughes has been stellar lately, outside of a tough fight with Jakub Kaszuba. In that fight, he showed the ability to control the realm early and was competitive on the feet. That’s a big ask against a two-time PFL Europe champion.
Van Steenis has been good, but hasn’t faced nearly the level of competition that Hughes has. As a result, I don’t think he’s ready for the speed or the physicality he’s about to get on Friday afternoon. For that reason, let’s lay the chalk with Hughes here.
