Rams Quarterback Matthew Stafford overtook Matt Ryan’s record of 381 touchdown passes to reach number 9 on the list of all-time passing TDs. Stafford headed into the game against the Philadelphia Eagles two behind Ryan. He drew level thanks to Davante Adams’ first-quarter goal and then overtook him with a 10-yard score.
Stafford, who is one of just two active players in the top ten list, has some way to go to reach Ben Roethlisberger, at number 8, as he achieved 418. However, from there, Dan Marino sits at 420 passes and Philip Rivers at 421, so he could leapfrog several places. To equal Roethlisberger’s numbers, Stafford would need to score a career equal best of 41 season passes.
The Rams – Title Hopefuls?
According to esports.net’s expert analysis of no KYC betting sites, the NFL remains the most popular sport for betting in the US, and its popularity continues to grow around the world.
Online betting expert Robbie Purves points to the convenience offered to bettors by modern no-KYC sites as a reason for sports betting’s renewed popularity, and while the Rams have had a mixed start to the season, with a 2-1 record, they remain close to the favorites in the odds to repeat their 2022 Super Bowl success. Favourites Buffalo Bills are priced at +550 to lift the trophy, while the Rams are 20-1.
Stafford’s Start
That 2022 Bowl victory came two years after the Rams traded Stafford into their roster. Having played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs, he was the first overall draft selection in 2009, picked by the Detroit Lions. He played for the Lions from 2009 until 2020, picking up the Comeback Player of the Year in 2011 and featured in the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2016, having led Detroit to the playoffs on both occasions.
LA Move
In 2021, Stafford and the Lions agreed it was time to part ways. A trade for Jared Goff and two future picks, which turned into a bumper list of draft picks, was agreed upon, and Stafford found himself in Los Angeles. In his debut game, he won NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in 12 years. He threw a career-best 41 touchdown passes and won his first Super Bowl, and the Rams’ first this millennium.
Still In LA
At the start of this season, Stafford was permitted to speak to other teams. He held discussions with the New York Giants and the Las Vegas Raiders but ultimately decided to stay in LA.
Next Up
The Rams are next in action against the Indianapolis Colts, playing next Sunday, September 28. The Colts currently top the AFC South with a 3-0 record, while the Rams are third in the NFC West with a 2-1 record following the loss to the Eagles. Despite that loss against Philadelphia, the Rams have been named as an outsider pick by some commentators and analysts. Stafford is one of the reasons why, although much depends on his ability to stay fit for the entire stretch. But the Rams are also favoured because they have what is deemed to be a really strong offensive line right across the board.
