While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we stay domestic for LFA 217 from Prior Lake, Minnesota for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 217
LFA Flyweight Fight: Cheyanne Bowers vs Maritza Sanchez
Card Start Time: Friday (9/12), 7:30pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
LFA 217 has quite a bit of chalk on it. The main event sees a highly touted prospect fighting a late replacement and posting a -3800 line in the process. The co-main has a Olympic gold medalist looking to make his MMA debut as a -2000 favorite. However, a bit down the card, there is a favorite with some value still on her name.
Cheyanne Bowers was previously the LFA flyweight interim champion. Her mix of grit and grappling prowess makes her a tough out in every fight. Even against the physically imposing Shannon Clark, she was able to drag the fight into deep waters and nearly stole it.
Now Bowers will be looking to ply those skills against Maritza Sanchez. While Sanchez has some high level competition from her time in Combate, she does struggle with those who can wrestle and hold her against the cage. That should be the perfect opening for Bowers to cash here for us.
LFA 217 Pick: Cheyanne Bowers ML (-300)
