So how do you put some meaning into a matchup like this one between the 65-73 Miami Marlins and the 54-83 Washington Nationals? You bet on it, that’s how. And remember – you don’t actually have to watch the game to bet on it.
So neither of these teams is any good, and neither has anything to play for other than pride at this point in the season. Both teams have shaky pitchers starting tomorrow – Adam Mazur (0-1, 5.59 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) for the visitors, Cade Cavalli (1-1, 5.11 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) for the home side, so you’d hope the pitching matchup is at least a wash.
And if the pitching is a wash, I’m in on the Marlins. They’re a way better team than the Nationals, plus they are a better road team (34-36) than the Nationals are at home (27-42). The advanced stats have Miami about a half-run better than Washington tomorrow, and we’re getting them as a dog on the moneyline.
