Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 31

Martin Perez – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts

Don’t look now, but 34-year old Martin Perez is really good again. He’s been 14 innings without allowing an earned run, which has allowed him to get deeper into games. He might not need to get that deep against the Yankees to get five strikeouts. They rank 26th in the majors in strikeouts and are fanning 11.67 times per game over their last three. With Perez finding five in each of his last two games – and in three of his last four starts – I like his chances to do the same here.

Noelvi Marte – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Marte has been hot lately for the Reds. If you look at his last three games, he has eight combined hits, runs and RBIs. That comes out to 2.67 per game and has largely been fueled by his ability to hit the long ball. I think there’s a good chance that he does that again here with Andre Pallante on the bump. Over his last four starts, he’s allowed 22 runs in just 17.0 innings (an 11.65 ERA). He gave up a dinger in every single one of those game – and in five straight overall. Marte should feast on that action.

Kelsey Plum – Lower than 5.5 Assists

I’m simply not sure why the projection on her assists has not dropped recently. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that the last time she reached this projection was against this Washington squad. However, that’s the only time she managed to come in higher than 5.5 in her last six games. Overall, she has picked up six assists in just two of her last nine contests. I like the chances that she looks to score more in this one than in their last meeting and we wind up with less dimes.
