Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 30
Cam Schlittler – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
The 24-year old righty has wowed for the Yankees over the past few starts. He hasn’t allowed an earned run in over 13 innings and has been mowing batters down in those games. He’s got back-to-back games with eight strikeouts and gets a White Sox team that should pave the way for a big number again. That’s not to say that the White Sox are a big strikeout team – in fact, they’re in the middle of the pack – but they have only put up 11 runs over their last four games. As a result, I expect Schlittler to work deep into this one.
Seiya Suzuki – Higher than 0.5 Batter Walks
I don’t usually go looking for projections on walks, but Suzuki just keeps finding himself on base that way. Over the past four games, Suzuki has walked five times – talllying at least one in each of those games. He’s taken a free pass 20 times in the month of August to go along with 18 hits. The Rockies send out McCade Brown, who walked three in 3.2 innings of work in his MLB debut. You’d imagine with him and a slew of Rockies relievers, Suzuki should be able to keep the streak going.
Veronica Burton – Higher than 12.5 Points
We’re back on the Burton kick. Earlier in the season, I was all about the scoring of Burton. She was on a great run in early July and seems to have found that touch again, and maybe more. She’s been higher than this mark in three of her last four games and in four of her last six. A big piece of that is going 25-for-25 from the foul line in her last four games. The Golden State Valkyries foul players the fourth most in the league and that should help her get to 13 in this one.
