Dana White’s Contender Series Week 4 – Predictions & Best Bets

Jack Congdon (+220) vs. Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani

In the main event, we’re going to take a swing on a big underdog. I understand the reason why people would be doubting Congdon. His hands can be low from time to time and he has shown to be hittable in the past. However, one thing you can’t doubt is his ability to put a pace on people and take a shot. What makes this a good matchup for him is that the combination of pace and pressure has given Lebosnoyani trouble in the past. Additionally, Congdon will be looking to make this a stand-up war, thus avoiding all of the favorite’s best weapons.

Cezary Oleksiejczuk (-275) vs. Theo Haig

Oleksiejczuk is the biggest favorite on the card and it’s for good reason. Not only does he have three times the experience of Haig, but the level of competition he has proven himself against is much better. Haig is a perfect 6-0, but got that record by beating opponents with a combined 33-45 record. His hands still look a little green and that’s a fact that you just can’t afford against the newest import to the Fighting Nerds squad.

Samuel Silva (-200) vs. Mandel Nallo

I’m a big fan of Mandel Nallo and his ground game. The Tristar product likely deserves to be in the UFC already. With that being said, I hate this fight for him. He gets Samuel Silva, fresh off of having beat George Hardwick for the Cage Warriors title. The Brazilian lightweight has solid takedown defense and should be forcing Nallo to trade with him. If that’s the case, I’ll take the guy who went toe-to-toe with Hardwick and came out no worse for the wear.

An Tuan Ho (+115) vs. Eduardo Henrique

This is An Tuan Ho’s second kick at the can. He unfortunately ran into Lone’er Kavanagh in his first go-round and Sean Shelby isn’t doing him any favors with this one either. Henrique comes into this one having just defended his LFA flyweight title. He looked amazing against Devon Lozaj, but I think this is a completely different fight. Firstly, he is taking it on very short notice and just did a weight cut. And secondly, Ho poses much more of a well-rounded threat than Lozaj – particularly when it comes to striking. I think that mix of skills winds up being the thing that gets Ho the win and the contract.

Tommy McMillan (+125) vs. David Mgoyan

We’ll close with one more underdog in this one. McMillan was supposed to be on Contender Series last year, but had to pull out of his fight with Austin Bashi with an injury. I had predicted McMillan to beat Bashi in that one, and I stand by it. He’s incredible at keeping distance with his footwork and it makes him really hard to take down. His hands are fast and he’s really good at creating awkward angles for people to defend against. For all the same reasons I liked him then, I like McMillan here as well.
