Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 29
Yoendrys Gomez – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
Gomez is yet another of the many White Sox pitchers who are putting up surprisingly good numbers. Over his last three games, he’s put up 16 strikeouts (or 5.33 per game). Now, he has the pleasure of facing the Yankees, a team that is striking out a lot. They rank 25th in the league in strikeouts. They struck out 12 times on Wednesday and had struck out four times in the first three innings on Thursday (which is when this went to publish). I’ll take Gomez’s chances of matching those kinds of numbers.
Kelsey Plum – Lower than 5.5 Assists
Once upon a time, Plum’s assists numbers seemed to be a lock for the “Higher than”. Towards the end of July and the beginning of August, Plum got at least six assists in six straight games. Since then, she has gone ice cold when it comes to picking up dimes. Just once in her last five games has she managed to get six and is averaging 4.2 in that span. If you want to stretch it out even further, she has hit the mark in just two of her last eight games. Her last game against Indiana saw her in double figures, but I’m selling with this dry spell.
Paige Bueckers – Lower than 1.5 Three-Pointers MAde
Although I am a fan of the work Bueckers has been doing this season, she simply hasn’t been all that prolific from three-point. She posted 29 earlier this month in a game against Los Angeles, and failed to make a single deep ball. In fact if you look at her month of April, it’s more of the same. She’s averaging 18.6 points per game this month, but has only managed to go over this mark in 22.2% of their games. On average, she’s hitting 1.0 three-pointers per game in the month, and that’s really only because she hit four in one game.
