Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 28
Cade Povich – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
I’m not sure how we got such a gift of a projection on Cade Povich’s strikeout numbers. This month, he’s thrown 21.2 innings and managed to fan 27 batters. That comes out to 6.75 strikeouts per game and includes teams that are much harder to strikeout than the Red Sox. Boston is 27th in the majors in strikeouts and they have been rough lately. In the last three games, they have struck out 10.67 times per game. That should help Povich find at least six here.
DeWanna Bonner – Higher than 10.5 Points
Bonner has been hot scoring the rock lately. She’s gone for 14 points in back-to-back games and that’s part of a larger streak. She’s been over this projection in seven of her last nine games. While she has come up short of this mark in all three games against Chicago this season, that was before she started this streak. I don’t think they’ll keep her quiet again in this one.
Ozzie Albies – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Albies may still not have great surface numbers, but he has been hitting the ball well lately. In seven of the last ten games, he’s gone over this mark. Not only that, but the power has really come on lately. He has four extra base hits in the last two games, which includes a trios of home runs. He’s got an added benefit of facing Aaron Nola on Thursday, who he has always been hot against. He has 20 career hits against him with six of those going for extra bases. That comes out to a .456 slugging percentage. He should be able to find us some offense here.
