While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we keep things domestic with CFFC 145 from Atlantic City, New Jersey for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: CFFC 145
CFFC Middleweight Fight: Ty Gwerder vs Nick Galanti
Card Start Time: Friday (8/30), 6:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
These odds are obviously as wide as they are due to the rough record that Ty Gwerder sports. At 7-5, a lot of people have written him off. However, that doesn’t take into account just how tough his strength of schedule is. He fought PFL finalist Dalton Rosta, Tuff-N-Uff champion Adam Vigil, and he even beat UFC veteran Tuco Tokkos.
The way that he did that was through being tough and putting together smart combinations on the feet. He knows how to grind in a fight and work through tough positions. He’s also has some solid knockout power, which led to that victory over Tokkos.
Standing across from him is Galanti, who may have a better record, but relies on some low percentage finishes. In each of his last two fights, he jumped guillotine and was able to pick up the win. As the skill level goes up, that gets harder and harder to do. Despite losing five times in his career, Gwerder has never been submitted. If he stays safe from Galanti’s submission attempts, he should be able to win this on the feet.
