We hit some rare bad luck when it comes to the first inning action on Tuesday. The Braves and the Marlins each scored in the first inning in a game that would later be tied 2-2 going into the 9th inning. We hope for that luck to swing back our way with our NRFI bets for August 27.
All the teams are back in action, giving us a wider slate to work with. We dug in and came up with the best NRFI and YRFI props for August 27. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – August 27
San Diego Padres vs. Seattle Mariners
First Pitch – 4:10 pm EST
T-Mobile Park – Seattle, WA
Broadcast – MLB TV
In the top of the first Bryan Woo takes to the mound to try to keep the Padres quiet. He’s rocking a 2.94 ERA coming into action on Wednesday and is looking to keep that going. He should have an easy time doing so as the Padres have been pretty bad at the plate. Despite being in first place in the NL West, they rank in the bottom third of the majors in runs scored and the bottom third of first inning runs scored. Those numbers are even with them having posted five in the first inning on Tuesday. It’ll be much harder for them to repeat that with Woo, who has allowed just one run in three of his last four starts.
Seattle gets their hacks next and they have been quite a bit better with the bats. They sit just outside of the top ten in terms of run scoring and are a middle of the pack team when it comes to scoring early. We’ll rely on Yu Darvish as the means to keep them quiet. Although his surface numbers are nothing to write home about, he has been sharp lately. He’s posted a 3.00 ERA over his last five games, and has allowed one run or fewer in the majority of those games.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 27: No (-120)
Detroit Tigers vs. Athletics
First Pitch – 10:05 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Tigers are a team that we definitely have to worry about at the plate when it comes to NRFI plays. They are top 10 in all the big metrics for offense, which is why you can get the NRFI at underdog prices right now. Despite all that, we’re still riding with it – and that’s because of Luis Morales. The Athletics’ righty is rocking a 1.72 ERA in four appearances this year. He’s never once allowed more than one run and has struck out 15 batters in 15.2 innings. I like his chances to surprise people and get us some early outs.
To close out the clean frame, it’ll be Casey Mize toeing the rubber. He has a respectable 3.68 ERA on the year and has allowed three or less runs in four of his last five games. He hasn’t allowed a first inning run in any of his last three games, and I hardly think it’ll be the Athletics that change that trend. It’s been the better part of a week since they’ve scored in the first.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 27: No (+115)
