Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 23
Nacho Alvarez Jr. – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
The Braves aren’t exactly tearing the cover off of the ball. However, Nacho Alvarez has been on a bit of a tear lately. He’s quietly put together a six-game hit streak. In those six games, he’s managed to tally 10 hits and is hitting .417 in that span. The Mets will send out Clay Holmes on Saturday, which is more good news for Alvarez. He’s 2-for-2 career against Holmes with a single and a double.
Kevin Borjas – Higher than 58.5 Significant Strikes
This one is an early one. The UFC is kicking off at 3am over in Shanghai. Towards the end of that card, which will let you get your coffee in, Borjas will throw down with Sumudaerji. Win or lose, Borjas has always been down to push a pace and throw. He’s been over this mark in 75% of his UFC fights. He’s actually topped 75 strikes in three of his last four fights as well.
Garrett Crochet – Higher than 7.5 Strikeouts
Garrett Crochet is throwing in a big game against the Yankees. That’s good for two reasons. The first of those reasons is that Crochet shows up for big games. Just check his performance against the Dodgers late last month. The other good reason is that the Yankees strike out a lot. They rank 25th in strikeouts and have fanned 9.67 times per game over their last three. With Crochet passing this projection in three of his last four, all signs point to doing it again.
