Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 18
Eury Perez – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
Perez is coming off a game with the Guardians where he posted a season high in strikeouts. The eight strikeout game was even more impressive based on the fact that the Guardians had been tough to strikeout at the time. Now he gets the Cardinals, who are also not an easy team to fan. While they come in at fifth in strikeouts, they have been much worse as of late. In their last two games, they’ve struck out 9.0 times per game, which is 1.20 more than their season average. Perez should be able to keep that trend rolling in this one.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto – Higher than 6.5 Strikeouts
Yamamoto has back-to-back games coming in under this projection. That’s helped Underdog move the projection down to where it is here. However, what they aren’t accounting for is the fact that the Rockies are one of the worst teams when it comes to striking out. They rank 29th with 9.37 strikeouts per game – only behind the Angels in terms of fanning. He’s hit at least seven in four of his last seven, and I think he’ll do it again here.
Michael Harris II – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Harris has cleared this projection in ten straight games – eight of which he got it done with just hits. In that span, he is averaging more than 4.0 hits, runs and RBIs per game in that time. On Monday, he’ll get a right-handed starter in Yoendrys Gomez, who just so happens to be rocking a 5.56 ERA. I’d be shocked if this took more than one at bat for Harris to take care of.
