Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 17
Davis Martin – Higher than 3.5 Strikeouts
The White Sox righty has a low projection here for two reasons. He had some issues getting swing and miss against the Guardians last game, and also the Royals are a tough team to strikeout. However, Martin has been over this projection in four of his last six games. When he faced the Royals last month, he picked up an easy seven (twice what we’re looking at projected there). Between that and the fact that the Royals fanned ten times on Saturday, I think Martin can find four for us.
Cameron Brink – Lower than 5.5 Points
If they’re going to keep giving it to us, we’ll keep taking it. Brink has played eight games since she came back from her horrific injury. In those eight games, she’s put up just 20 total points. That comes out to 2.5 per game and not once has she put up six points. While we’d all like to see her get back to get old ways, there is no reason to believe it will happen yet. That is especially true against Washington, who is 4th in opponents’ scoring.
Michael Harris II – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
If you’re only looking at his surface numbers, you might be fooled into thinking that Harris is struggling at the plate. In the first half, that was definitely the case. Now, he’s on absolute fire. He has eight straight games with multiple hits, and that ignores that he could beat this projection with runs or RBIs. In this eight game stretch, he’s had 13 RBI and and eight runs. All combined that’s 38 hits, runs and RBI in an eight-game stretch (or 4.75 per game). Finding two should be child’s play.
