Dana White’s Contender Series Week 2 – Predictions & Best Bets
Ramiro Jimenez (-325) vs. Tommy Cuozzi
There are a lot of fights on this Tuesday card that have some wide lines. While Jimenez’s line has continued to rise, he’s still the right side in this one. The southpaw works his jab well early in fights and can do some serious damage with knees. He showed during his time in Combate that he has some serious grappling too. He hits body lock takedowns with a Dagastani handcuff already applied. That should be enough against Cuozzi, who has largely faced weak competition. The most notable fighter he faced was Theo Rlayang. In that fight, the Thai kickboxer took Cuozzi down and threatened.
Guilherme Uriel (+350) vs. Josh Hokit
Here’s another fight with particularly wide odds, but the only one where I like the underdog. Hokit has shown incredible skills. He looks like a killer on the mats, but there is next to no experience elsewhere. He has spent about 30 seconds on the feet over his last three fights and has thrown one strike from that position. That’s a problem against Uriel, who is an experienced and dangerous striker. The low hands of Uriel might make the takedown difficult, and if this stays standing the dog is live.
Louis Lee Scott (-450) vs. Kaushik Saikumar
Here come wide odds part three of this card. While I do like the favorite here in Scott, I do not advise looking at the moneyline or even putting it in parlays. Scott is elusive and that should play a part in his victory here. However, Saikumar is dangerous on the feet and fights long as well. Scott is the side I like, but not at this price. Your best bet in this one is to look to the over. Currently it’s set at 1.5 rounds and you can get the over at -175. The aforementioned elusiveness should aid in that cashing.
Brandon Holmes (-180) vs. Cam Rowston
Finally, we get some odds that aren’t ridiculous on this card. I’ll again take the favorite here – even though he’s taking this fight on short notice. Rowston has regularly gone to his wrestling early and struggled to get it going against low level competition. Holmes on the other hand is really raw. He doesn’t quite have everything working together, but the explosiveness on the feet should make Rowston have difficulties. That trait should also help him get up if he does happen to get taken down.
Jose Delano (-425) vs. Manuel Exposito
Closing out the card is one more big favorite. Jose Delano is perhaps one of the big odds that I feel most comfortable with. The man is a surgeon on the feet and can pick just about anyone apart. Exposito loves to stand and trade and should give Delano the precise fight that he wants. This also I fight where I’ll be looking to the under. The 2.5 rounds under is set at -120. Jose Delano’s KO prop should be live when it eventually posts to books.
