Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 16
Joey Wentz – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
Joey Wentz has been solid for the Braves, but a couple of down games in terms of strikeouts has his projection plummeting down to 4.5. After posting games of six and seven, he struck out just five in his last two games combined. However, it’s worth noting that those two games came against teams in the top ten at limiting strikeouts. With the Gaurdians well outside of that, and with them striking out 9.33 times per game over their last three, Wentz should be able to spike that number back up.
Alibi Idiris – Higher than 36.5 Significant Strikes
In the flyweight finale of this year’s Ultimate Fighter, Kazakh fighter Alibi Idiris meets Joseph Morales. In this fight, it’s clear what Idiris wants to do – keep the fight standing. Morales has shown, on the show and in the past, that he likes to try to get his ground game going early. Needing to deal with that is likely why we see such a low significant strike total for Idiris. Although the game plan for Morales is a concern, Idiris has shown great takedown defense and should be able to keep this standing for the bulk of the fight.
Baysangur Susurkaev – Lower than 5 Fight Time (Mins)
Susurkaev is coming off a win… from this past Tuesday! That’s right, he won on Dana White’s Contender Series and was immediately booked for his UFC debut. The reason being is that he’s electric on the feet and the UFC could not be more hyped on the guy. They’ve also set him up in a bit of a mismatch. He draws short notice opponent Eric Nolan, who is not only taking this fight on three days notice, but is also coming up in weight. He’s not a natural middleweight and has been very hittable in the past. In won’t take many from Susurkaev to make it a short night.
