MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – August 13
Miami Marlins vs. Cleveland Guardians
First Pitch – 6:40 pm EST
Progressive Field – Cleveland, OH
Broadcast – MLB TV
We got in on this series on Tuesday and it didn’t pay off for us. However, we’re doubling down with the action for Wednesday – largely due to the better pitching matchup.
To kick off the game, Gavin Williams will be on the bump. He has a 3.17 ERA on the year and has somehow been better than that lately. In his last four starts, he’s allowed just four earned runs. That comes out to a 1.30 ERA in that span. Miami currently ranks in the bottom third of the league in terms of scoring in the first inning. If anyone is going to upset Williams’ run, it certainly won’t be the Marlins.
The bottom of the inning had some other hitting issues. As good as the Guardians have been, they have been terrible at the plate. They are one of five teams that are averaging under 4.00 runs per game. Dealing with Eury Perez shouldn’t make that any easier. He similarly has a low ERA – 3.25 on the year – and has similarly been better as of late. In the last seven starts for Perez, he’s posting a 2.06 ERA and has kept his opponents to two or fewer runs in six of those seven games.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 13: No (-130)
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Athletics
First Pitch – 10:05 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The nightcap for Wednesday is one that has some crazy odds, but should be able to cash for us.
J.T. Ginn takes the mound first in this one. He just recently found himself in the Atheltics’ rotation. Since he made the switch, he has maintained a respectable 3.56 ERA. Additionally, he was mowing batters down in his last outing. He picked up nine strikeouts in just 5.0 innings. Now he’ll face a Rays team that has some solid offensive numbers, but seem to have an issue with strikeouts. If Ginn can keep some of that momentum going, than he should be able to get us three quick outs.
Drew Rasmussen looks to close out our NRFI in this one. He has a 2.66 ERA on the season and hasn’t let up a run in 15.1 innings. Those three outings came against the Yankees, the Mariners, and the Dodgers – all of which are in the top ten in terms of run scoring. He’ll get a break here with the Athletics, who rank right around league average and should be easy to grab three outs on.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 13: No (+100)
