Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 8
J.T. Ginn – Lower than 4.5 Strikeouts
While I think Ginn has been sneaky good for the Athletics, there is just too much pointing at him come up short of this projection. For one, he hasn’t topped this number since June 30th. That’s six straight appearances – with three of them being starts – that he has not come up with five. Additionally, while the Orioles are typically a bad team when it comes to the swing and miss stuff, they’ve been making better contact lately. In fact, they only fanned four times all game on Wednesday.
Shakira Austin – Lower than 14.5 Points
Austin was icy cold in the Mystics last game against the Sky. She shot 4-of-11 from the field and missed every three-pointer and foul shot she took. She would end the game with just eight points, which made it three of the last four in which she would come in with 14 or less. She’s also done that in four of the last six. Now she gets the best defensive team in the league – hardly something that would inspire a turnaround of her fortunes.
Nneka Ogwumike – Higher than 17.5 Points
While our first two highlighted players have been on a downward trajectory, Ogwumike has been anything but. She lit up a tough Minnesota defense for 23 points on Tuesday, which wasn’t even her most impessive game this month. She went off for 37 two games prior to that against Los Angeles. In all, she has put up at least 18 in four of her last five game – averaging 24.0 in that span.
