Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 5
MacKenzie Gore – Lower than 6.5 Strikeouts
This projection is undoubtedly influenced by just how good Gore was at picking up strikeouts early in the season. He was mowing batters down at a crazy rate and even led the majors for a bit. However, lately, he’s cooled way off. In fact, in his three starts since the All-Star Break, he’s only fanned 10 total guys. He’ll get the Athletics here who are both hitting well and not striking out in their last three. They are averaging just 5.33 strikeouts per game over their last three – which should make it hard for Gore to find 7.
Paige Bueckers – Higher than 18.5 Points
Not that she needed to take a step forward, but Bueckers has been that much better lately. She’s gone for at least 20 points in three straight games and is shooting nearly 50% from the field in that stretch. She gets a tough New York squad in this one, but they played just three games ago. Bueckers took only 12 shots in that game and still managed to lead the team in scoring with 20. Now with her even hotter, they likely will give her even more looks to beat this projection.
Bria Hartley – Higher than 8.5 Points
Hartley has been surprisingly hot as of late. She’s gone off for double figures in six of her last seven games. In that stretch, she’s posted 14.3 points per game, which is well clear of this projection. It seems like the one off game she had and the fact that they’re playing Phoenix might be dragging this projection down. However, she had nine last time she played the Mercury and that was before she was putting up numbers like this.
