Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 19

Marvin Vettori – Higher than 57.5 Significant Strikes

If you’re dipping your toe into UFC 318 with Underdog Fantasy, you won’t find a much better projection than this one. Vettori has been higher than 100 strikes in four of his last five fights. Three of those five fights were five round fights, which makes the stat a bit deceiving. However, even if you prorate those down to just three rounds, he would still be coming in over this mark. Additionally, I like that he’ll likely be avoiding the ground with Brendan Allen, which should help him rack up the strikes.

ADrian Houser – Higher than 3.5 Strikeouts

This projection for Houser seems comically low. For one, he’s beat this number in three of his last four sarts. His only failure to do so came against the Blue Jays, who are the hardest team in the majors to strike out right now. The Pirates are not that. In fact, they rank 22nd in that stat category. When you add in that Houser has been working deep into games – at least 7.0 innings pitched in each of his last three – he should have no problem finding a fourth strikeout.

Mike Trout – Higher than 9.5 Fantasy Points

Mike Trout has been tearing things apart lately. In his last three games, he’s picked up five hits (two for extra bases), six RBIs and two runs. Additionally, he’s walked three times in that span. Now he’ll get a favorable pitching matchup with Taijuan Walker on the hill. He’s faced Walker 20 times and is 11-for-19 (.579) off of him. Of those 11 hits, three of them are home runs, giving him a 1.158 slugging percentage. I’m not sure where these points will come from, but we have plenty of options to get them.
