Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 12
Tuco Tokkos – Higher than 1.5 Takedowns
We’ll kick off this entry in the cage. In Nashville on Saturday night, Tuco Tokkos welcomes Junior Tafa to the light heavyweight division. Tafa is a dangerous kickboxer who has had some issues with his takedown defense in his career. While this is a lighter weight class for him, Tokkos’ takedown game shouldn’t be overlooked. He doesn’t have the best numbers on those since joining the UFC, but prior to his signing had been outgrappling folks on the regional scene. I think finding two here is well within his range.
Garrett Crochet – Higher than 7.5 Strikeouts
The Red Sox ace has been straight mowing people down this year. He’s struck out at least seven batters in every game since the calendar turned to June. Only twice was that number exactly seven and he’s been higher than that mark five times. He’ll face the Tampa Bay Rays here, who have been a league average team in terms of their strikeout numbers. While they’ve been a touch better in their recent games, nobody really stands up to Crochet.
Veronica Burton – Higher than 9.5 Points
Our last selection for this entry comes from the hardcourt. Veronica Burton has been putting up numbers for Golden State as of late. She’s gone for double figures in three of her last four games. You can stretch that back further too and see that she’s done it in five of her last eight games as well. While I already like all of those trends, I like it even more with her playing the Aces. They rank in the bottom five teams in the league when it comes to opponents’ points per game.
