It’s hot in Las Vegas and so is the Summer League action. Day 3 of the NBA’s best offseason work is this weekend and 16 teams will be playing. We’ve dug through all of the action for Saturday’s games to get you a winner. Here’s my NBA Summer League prediction and best bet for Saturday, July 12th.
NBA Summer League Predictions & Preview For July 12th
Dallas mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs
Start Time: 4:00 PM EST
Of course everybody is excited about the Mavericks and seeing Cooper Flagg in action. However, his debut in the Summer League left a bit to be desired. He scored just 10 points on 21 shots and went 0-of-5 from deep. The Mavericks did go on to win the game over the Lakers, but that’s because they got picked up by Ryan Nembhard. Although some might see that as a positive, getting carried in the scoring by a guy who made his college career as a passer doesn’t seem like a sustainable system to me.
On the other side, the Spurs got their feet wet in the Califnornia Classic. They cashed in their first game as an underdog and lost by just one the second game – also as a dog. That was without the benefit of having their two lottery picks, Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant. With just Bryant in the fold, they blew the 76ers out of the water by 41. David Jones-Garcia and Jameer Nelson Jr. have been carrying things for them and there’s a chance Harper will debut on Saturday.
If Harper does debut, you could talk me into the spread, but either way I’m down with the moneyline.
