Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 6

Grant Holmes – Higher than 7.5 Strikeouts

Okay, this might seem like a high projection, but Grant Holmes has been straight dealing over his last five outings. In the last month, he’s fanned 45 batters in 28.3 innings. That’s good for 9.0 strikeouts per start. He’s coming off a ten strikeout performance against the Angels. He gets an easy matchup in this one with the Orioles ranking 26th in strikeouts this year and having gone down 15 times last game.

Chase Burns – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts

One of the spots I like for Underdog Fantasy on Sunday is the strikeout total for Chase Burns. The Reds starters has had a couple of very different outings to start his MLB career. He quicking fanned the first six outs of his first outing and nearly put up double digits against the Yankees. Then he didn’t get more than an out before being crushed by Boston. He gets no breaks with the Phillies in game three, but they did strike out 11 times on Saturday against some pitchers who don’t have the stuff Burns does.

Tyler Anderson – Higher than 3.5 Strikeouts

The Blue Jays have been a tough squad to strikeout. In fact, no team in the majors strikes out less than the first place Blue Jays. However, Tyler Anderson has been way higher than this projection most of the season. He’s beaten this projection in six straight starts and in 14 of the 17 starts he’s made this year. He’s averaged 5.2 per game in the last five and I think we can get him up to 4.
