Some people like to sweat out a bet for 9 hard innings – others like immediate satisfaction. Count us as being in the latter, which is why we like to get down with MLB NRFI and YRFI picks. And we’ve decided to pass that knowledge on to you with our NRFI bets for July 6.
Of course, there are plenty out there taking blind guesses at this stuff. It’s easy to pick the best-hitting team or look at what happened in the last game. However, we spent the time pouring through the analytics to make sure that we give you the best odds to stay in the green on these NRFI and YRFI props for July 6. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – July 6
New YOrk Yankees vs. New York Mets
First Pitch – 1:40 pm EST
Citi Field – Queens, NY
Broadcast – MLB TV
For our first NRFI play of the day, we’re going to look to the Subway Series. The Yankees get first hacks, and they just haven’t been themselves lately. They’re losing ground in the AL East at an alarming rate, and have only scored in the first inning in one of their last four games. It would seem that they have an easier pitching matchup today with Chris Devenski acting as the opener for the Mets, but he’s been pretty good lately. Since coming back to the big league club in late May, he’s appeared in four games and hasn’t allowed a run yet. The opener is always risky with these kinds of bets, but I’ll trust the trends.
The bottom of the first is a little more cut and dry. Sure, the Mets are hitting the cover off of the ball lately, but we get Max Fried on the rubber here. He’s carrying a 2.13 ERA and a sub 1.00 WHIP into action on Sunday. He also has 106 strikeouts in just 114.0 innings. His June ERA was 1.91 and he currently sits in the top five of AL Cy Young odds. I’d take him to blank just about anyone in the first frame right now.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 6: No (-125)
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Seattle Mariners
First Pitch – 4:10 pm EST
T-Mobile Park – Seattle, WA
Broadcast – MLB TV
Pittsburgh gets first crack in this one and they have not been sharp with their bats. They currently rank 28th in scoring in the first inning with 0.36 per game. They haven’t put a first inning run in any of their past four games. In fact, the run scoring in general has looked bad in that span. In those four games, they’ve scored just six runs total. They’ll face George Kirby in this one, who has finally started to find his old form. He has held his last two opponents to just one earned run each and went 6.0 in both of those outings.
On the other side, we have Paul Skenes throwing – which is usually enough on his own. After all, he is rocking a 2.03 ERA with 115 strikeouts in 111.0 innings. However, I also like the NRFI here because of the way the Mariners bats have been as of late. They’ve scored just 15 total runs in their last five games. They’ve also been near the bottom of the league when it comes to scoring at home – scoring just 4.0 runs per game in T-Mobile.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 6: No (-175)
