Switzerland vs Iceland
Start Time: 3:00 PM EST
Iceland kicked off their Women’s Euros with a loss to Finland. While that was a disappointing result, they can largely point to a 58th minute red card as a reason for the loss. Outside of that, their defense and keeper play looked stingy and likely could have gotten them the draw.
They’ll get Switzerland in this one, who dropped their first game as well. Their offense looked much more impressive – racking up 54.4% of the control and taking 17 shots. However, they managed to put the same amount of balls in their own net as they did Norway’s (1).
In this one, I expect to see a pair of teams whose strengths cancel each other out. It’s worth noting that we’ve seen that the last two times these two have played as well. In each of their last two meetings – both during the EUFA Women’s Nations League – they drew. I like their chances to do that again here.
