Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 5

Kelsey Mitchell – Higher than 20.5 Points

We’ll start out Underdog Fantasy entry with a trip to the ‘W’ here. Indiana is at home against Los Angeles, who is one of the worst defensive teams in the league. They are 11th in the league with 86.9 points per game. Mitchell should be the beneficiary of a lot of those point as Caitlin Clark is still out of commission. With Clark on the sideline over the last four games, Mitchell has averaged 22.25 points per game. Without one dud of a 12-pointer in there, the stats would look a lot better. I think she clears this one easy.

Max Scherzer – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts

Once upon a time, a 5.5 strikeout projection on Max Scherzer would make us all salivate. Now, there are likely people reading this that think I need to be institutionalized for picking that he’d exceed it. He showed flashes of his old self in his last game though, mowing over seven at home against the Yankees. Now he’ll get one of the few teams who strikes out more than the Yankees in the Angels. Not only are they 29th in strikeouts (9.8 per game), but they have had a tough go of it lately. They’ve fanned 11.7 times per game over their last three.

Eugenio Suarez – Higher than 1.5 Total bases

This isn’t much of a stretch with Suarez having homered in back-to-back games, but Underdog is offering a 1.18x multiplier for the “Higher than” projection. Not only do I like the power lately, but I also love this matchup. He’ll get starter Michael Wacha on Saturday, who he has a lot of history against. In 40 career at bats, he is 15-for-36 (.417) with three doubles and a pair of dingers.
