Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 3
Jason Day – Lower than 67.5 Round Strokes
Jason Day is playing good golf lately. Last weekend at the Travelers Championship, he only went higher than this projection in his final round. Now, he’ll be playing on a course that is historically easier in TPC Deere Run. Last year he averaged 67 over the four days at this course, closing with back-to-back 66s. Between his good history and recent success, I like him to put up a good opening round here.
Bryce elder – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
Bryce Elder hasn’t looked sharp in his last three starts. However, the conditions of those games have been less than ideal. Both the weather and the opponent should cooperate better in this one. He faces the Angels, who fanned 12 times on Wednesday and 9.67 times per game over their last three. They also aren’t scoring a lot, which should help Elder get late into the game.
Christian walker – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Christian Walker has also been hot lately. Despite some disappointing numbers on the season, he’s been higher than this total in three of his last four games – including both games this series. To make matters better, he gets a pitcher he has tons of familiarity with. Having played in the NL West, he’s no stranger to Kyle Freeland. They’ve faced off 41 times with Walker hitting .343 with a .600 slugging percentage. He’s taken him deep twice and will have the benefit of the thin air in Denver.
