The San Francisco Giants are exceeding expectations once again this season, but it’s not thanks to future All-Star pitcher Justin Verlander. The big righty is having a rough, injury-plagued season (0-3, 4.33 ERA, 1.40 WHIP), which isn’t totally surprising considering he’s 42 years old and is pitching in his 20th season in the majors.
Verlander makes his return from the injury list tomorrow to start against the Cleveland Guardians. And Guardians slugger Jose Ramirez will be waiting for him. No pitcher is completely safe from the wrath of J-Ram, but Verlander is especially susceptible. Ramirez has a slash line of .317/.408/.683 in 41 career at-bats against Verlander.
Despite this, we’re getting really good prop odds for Ramirez tomorrow in The Bay. I’m going with his total bases over 0.5 since it pays out the same as his hits over 0.5 prop does. Easy money – let’s go!
