With the NFL Draft completed and a new season fast approaching, fans and pundits alike have been discussing ad infinitum about which prospects are likely to adapt quickest to life in the big leagues.
Of all the hot prospects pushing to impress in the NFL, two names are streets ahead when it comes to the betting odds for Rookie of the Year. These are 21-year-old Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty and Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward.
NFL enthusiasts who want to place a wager on either of these two, or indeed an outsider, can do so with the aid of this amazing Fanatics sportsbook promo code, which will help make their wagers even more attractive.
Jeanty and Ward, sixth and first picks in the NFL Draft, respectively, sit at around +250 with most sportsbooks, with the likes of Travis Hunter, the wide receiver/cornerback brought in by the Jacksonville Jaguars at +550, and Tetairora McMillan of the Carolina Panthers some way back at +1300.
This illustrates just how highly rated Jeanty and Ward are among the 2025 NFL Draft crop, though what they can achieve won’t really be known until they get on the field of play to prove themselves worthy of the hype.
On how Jeanty has thus far settled in at the Allegiant Stadium franchise, head coach Pete Carroll commented.
“He’s doing great. He really is. He’s right on point with everything that we’re doing,”
“He’s studying really hard. He’s been really diligent about all aspects. There’s nothing that he doesn’t find important. He’s going to work hard on his pass protection, the third down type of work, see if he can contribute in that kind of a role as well.”
“So, we’re not holding anything back on him. He’s getting a lot of plays. I think he had the most plays for a running back yet on Monday. I don’t know what the number was today, but it’s there. So, he’s getting a lot of turns.” Carroll added.
After three successive losing record seasons, Carroll was brought in to steady the ship, but one has to dampen expectations a tad. We are talking about a team that has not won a playoff game in 22 years, and therefore, precisely what Jeanty can make happen with the Raiders is hard to gauge.
Cam Ward’s Titans have also suffered over the past three seasons, and head coach Brian Callahan will have to hope the 23-year-old new addition can hit the ground running at the Nissan Stadium.
On how he’s adapting to life in the NFL, Callahan commented.
“It’s just the recognition part, understanding what’s being thrown at him from a defensive perspective,”
“The protection game is always really important, so you’re getting reps at that. (Tuesday was) a big third down day, so he’ll see lots of different pressures, understanding where your answers are. Those things have progressed. Happy with that process so far.”
“He’s had a lot of learning that has occurred from just the act of doing and things that he’s maybe used to doing that are different at this level and that’s always for young quarterbacks the case, it’s always going to feel different.”
“So pleased with where he’s at, he’s picking it up pretty quickly as far as the mental part goes and we’re learning every day he’s out here.” Callahan added.
Cam Ward’s NFL career gets underway, if he starts, on the road at the Denver Broncos, while Ashton Jeanty’s Raiders are set to face the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in NFL Gameweek One.
